Bingo clubs win gaming machines battle
Wednesday, July 6, 2011
A vote in Parliament last night means that bingo clubs can now offer customers a £2 stake on B3 gaming machines, removing the £1 limit that was introduced by the 2005 Gambling Act. In addition, the maximum number of B3 machines allowed per club has been amended, so that it is now 20% of the total number of machines rather than a cap of eight.
The measures are good news for customers and for clubs alike. However, they do not offset concerns about the continuing high levels of bingo tax, as well as new worries over the new Machines Gaming Duty that will soon be introduced.
